This year’s color trends adopt warm and comforting or joyful and refreshing tones. According to fashion experts, this year’s trends will be divided into three themes, each one reflecting a certain dominant taste and attitude.
Inviting
Radiating a comforting sensation, this theme represents the growing segment of population that appreciates the beauty, satisfaction and ease of daily life in a world that provides an infinite number of choices and opportunities. A return to basics rather than a representation of the very latest trends, the colors of this palette reflect our desire for a relaxed, enriching and informal lifestyle, a home where we can really be ourselves.
Authentic
This theme celebrates the infinite beauty of nature and gives a sense of peace and satisfaction. In an increasingly automated society, this color group shows appreciation for the earth, its materials and creativity. Stressing the tones of wood, clay, earth and denim emphasized with inspiring yellow shades, this palette adopts the notion that “less is more”, and underlines the idea that the process and pride resulting from creation are as important as the end product. In contrast with last year’s strong brown earth tones, the warm neutral tones of 2012 are softer, more subtle and sophisticated. Shades of taupe and mocha dominate this group of colors as well as subtle tones of green and yellow.
Bright
This group of entertaining and original colors shows stronger expression of simplicity. Charming, funny and slightly childish, this palette is refreshing and brings poetry and pleasure into our lives while also putting a smile on our faces. Unexpected combinations – such as lime green and hints of cocoa on a background of yellow or of turquoise and vibrant pink accents – are increasingly popular. Last year’s shades of pale blue are replaced by stronger and alive ones. Tones of turquoise, teal, ultramarine blue and denim are now in fashion, matching well with the neutral tones of clay, dark purple, gray and bright green. Botanical bright, almost electric shades take the central place in the green family. New shades of blue emerald are on and they capture our love for the environment.
